He has worked as Research Officer in Centre for Rural Studies, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.
He has been awarded numerous scholarships at the graduate and post-graduate level and has had a distinguished academic career. He was awarded Junior Research Fellowship from the Wildlife Institute of India, Ministry of Environment and Doctoral Fellowship from Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi.
He has published widely in many journals on various topics including Primary education, Social Dynamics of Economic Principles, Reproductive Rights, Caste and Economic reforms, Environment, Indian Politics etc, and is a regular contributor in National and Regional dailies. Notable among his publications are "Role of Youth in Science and Technology" in Science, Technology and Development, Department of Youth Affairs, Govt. of Macau, Macau (2001) and "State, Market and Development: Understanding Social Dynamics of Economic Principles", Aligarh Law Journal, AMU, 2002; "Gender and Development: A Critical Reflection", Gender and Development, Welhalm Publishing House, Leeds, U.K; "Patterns of Work Culture", Journal of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi
At present he is the Global Adviser, Poverty Advisory Group, Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, U.K.
His teaching interests include Sociology and Sociology of Law.
